Rep.-elect Santos admits lying about his credentials

In an interview with the New York Post, GeorgeSantos said that he had made up parts of his biography.

I embellished my resume here. In an interview he said he would serve his two-year term in Congress and apologized. He spoke to WABC radio.

He told the New York Post that a company he worked for did business with both Goldman and Citigroup.

He said he did not have a degree from any college.

He said he wasn't a criminal.

Tom Suozzi did not seek another term and was replaced by a Republican. He won the race by an 8 percentage point margin.

He told the Post that they do stupid things.

The New York Times reported on the subject. His lawyer said the Times' reporting constituted a "smear," but on Thursday, he said he had his story to tell.

A request for comment was not responded to bySantos.
