An Ohio electric company said a lineworker was killed while working to restore power.
Buckeye Rural Cooperative, an electric utility provider in Gallipolis, wrote on Facebook that Rodgers was killed in an electrical contact incident.
The company didn't give any further information. While employees dealt with Rodgers loss, the utility provider was working with contract crews to restore power.
The provider stated that the safety of their field workers is always their top priority.
On Facebook, friends and family mourned Rodgers.
His mother wrote that she tried to give him his Christmas presents early, but that he didn't take them because he told her he would be there on Christmas.
She was a fan of Christmas until now. It will be a constant reminder of the days when you were gone.
Rodgers was the greatest gift, according to Hale.
She said to hug your children a little tighter. Even if they don't like it, take all the pictures and videos.
Hale did not reply to the request.
A former teacher remembered Rodgers as a sweet, energetic, ornery 2nd graders.
