Damien Woody not surprised by Nathaniel Hackett's firing (1:30)

The Denver Broncos have a new head coach. The first part of the story is over.

Randy Gregory of the Broncos and Oday Aboushi of the Rams were both suspended for one game for fighting after the game.

As the teams crowded the middle of the field on their way to their locker rooms after the game, Gregory punched a teammate in the helmet. The two men were separated after the first punch.

Jon Runyan, the vice president of football operations for the National Football League, wrote to the players saying that they swung at each other as they walked toward a group of teammates, coaches and media. The high standards of sportsmanship expected of a professional is not reflected in your conduct.

The two players will be allowed to return to their teams on New Year's Day. The players can appeal their punishments.

Since he suffered a knee injury in Week 4, Gregory has played just two times. He signed a five-year, $70 million contract in the summer, but has only played six games.

Gregory had a game of undisciplined moments. He was pulled from the game twice, once in the first half when Gregory was flagged for throwing his helmet after a Rams touchdown, and again in the second half when he was flagged for a hit on Rams quarterback Baker Mayfield.

"After the second one, we took him out, that's not right," he said.

Gregory said, "Y'all want to know if I hit him in the mouth, I did."
