A league source said last night that the #Broncos were looking to "blow it up." Now that starts with the team firing Nathaniel Hackett, per source.

Prior to joining the Broncos, he spent the past three seasons as the offensive coordinator of the Packers. Expectations were high after the team acquired nine-time Pro Bowler Russell Wilson.

The offense has been a disaster this season, ranking dead last in the league in points scored.

The defense has held opponents to less than 20 points 10 times this year. The team's offensive limitations have kept them from being better.

The head coach hired a senior assistant to help with game management earlier in the year after being criticized for his decision-making.

During the Week 1 loss to Seattle, Hackett called for a 64 yard field goal instead of going for it on fourth down. As the Broncos lost games in overtime, the mistakes became more obvious.

George Paton was the general manager of the team.

Paton said that the scrutiny he has faced is unprecedented. He's had to learn because we've had four prime time games.

The end of his tenure in Denver was caused by the failure to turn things around.

The Broncos will try to find a coach who can get them back to the playoffs for the first time in three years.

An elite defense plus young offensive skill players could make this an attractive location for available coaches.

Wilson signed a five-year, $243 million extension that should keep him under team control for the foreseeable future. Wilson's passer rating is the worst of his career and his 12 touchdown passes are tied for 25th in the league.
