A CNN reporter met with a hacker at a hacker's convention in Las Vegas in a video that was shared by someone. She pretended to be him and called up a hotel that wasn't mentioned and transferred 90,000 hotel points to her.

She called the airline and asked them to change the outgoing flight to a middle seat in the back of the plane.

How to keep your points safe

The point of the video was that many places online have 2 factor Authentication and other ways to keep your points secure, but on the phone there is not as much. I have found that hotels and airlines are pretty good at responding to fraudulent activity, though I don't know what they would say if they were able to play the call back.

La Quinta had a Play and Stay slot machine-style game earlier in the year that netted me just shy of 10,000 points, but with changes to the game, it quickly lost its luster.
