If you watched Glass Onion over the weekend, you may have noticed that its central tech billionaire may or may not have felt familiar.
EdwardNorton plays the character of MilesBron, a tech billionaire with his hands in many pies, including space travel and automobiles.
As the mystery unfolds, things seem to get even more on the nose, as you can see from the picture. One of the major revelations is that Bron is an idiot, just not a smart guy at baseline, who had taken credit that was not his, and stole his ideas. It's true that these are frequent criticisms of Musk, particularly now that he's in his ownership role on the social network, where every decision he makes feels bad. Even though he is the public face of those companies, many people are unwilling to give him credit for the success of those companies. His critics have said that for a long time.
The question is raised by that. Is writer/director Rian Johnson responsible for all this? Is it possible that Miles Bron was actually supposed to be Musk?
The answer is yes and no, but Johnson says that the movie was a collection of many tech billionaires rather than a single guy. He feels surprised that the movie felt prescient given Musk's recent behavior with the Twitter takeover. This is part of an interview that goes down the path of his thoughts about Musk.
More for you.
That's right.
The Forbes Snowman has been found.
What will happen in the next one. What are you thinking?
It is not possible to say yes. Do you have any suggestions for me?
Is the downfall of the social networking site?
The fall of the social networking site. I don't know if I just did that. Affirmative.
I was going to question you about that. There is a movie with a tech billionaire at the center and as it is coming out, everyone is watching Musk take over the social networking site.
It's so strange. It's very strange. I hope there isn't a secret marketing department at the streaming service.
Yes, right? It was all part of the plan to get everyone to watch.
There is a lot of information about that type of billionaire. It has a strange relevance in the current moment. My friend said that it felt like it was written this afternoon. That is a horrible, horrible accident.
You can see how it ends. While Musk may have originally been part of a sort of billionaire that also could have included the likes of Bezos, Johnson admits that he accidentally made a movie about him that feels relevant for our current moment. It's kind of crazy.
What will Rian Johnson tell us about Knives Out 3?
