The Witcher: Blood Origin, a four-episode limited series that aired on December 25th, is an attempt to answer some of the series' biggest questions. The streamer took measures to ensure the franchise's future, including casting Liam Hemsworth as Cavill's replacement and continuing to build the series' expanded universe.

The Witcher: Blood Origin takes place during the Golden Age of elves on the Continent. The story of seven strangers who unite against a growing empire is told in the limited series. The first witcher and the origin of the show's version of the Wild Hunt are both featured in the series.

The show still serves as an effective and occasionally riveting expansion of The Witcher's mythology even though it feels a tad by the numbers. In the upcoming third season and beyond, new mysteries will be set up while filling the gaps in the main show.

The end of the elves

elves are at the bottom of the social hierarchy. The race as the mighty rulers of the Continent separated by a thousand caused the elves to fall into hiding.

The seven, the show's main characters, who have been wronged by the new empire and seek revenge against its empress, Merwyn, were able to sneak in and start their plan to overthrow him.

The elven smallfolk revolted against the empire after a rousing speech by ile. The seven had different tasks to fulfill in the attack. ile confronted Merwyn while Brother Death and Meldof dealt with the soldiers. ile stabbed Merwyn in front of the elven horde who were raiding the palace. The glorious days of the elven empire are coming to a close.

Conjunction junction

While ile is dealing with Merwyn, mages Syndril and Zacaré are trying to destroy the monoliths. Fans of The Witcher will recognize the monoliths as those that play a significant role in the second season.

Balor is in control of chaos magic after sacrificing his daughter to a power from another world and attacking them. Zacaré uses her power to bond Syndril and Balor, with Syndril redirecting Balor's chaos magic to destroy it.

Unexpected results have arisen from the monolith's destruction. The Conjunction of the Spheres occurs when the divide between dimensions collapses after a gate to another world is broken. There are many terrible beasts that will destroy the land for centuries to come.

The first witcher

The first witcher was created in the third episode. After Balor brought a monster from another world to destroy the kingdoms, the creature remained on the Continent as Merwyn's bodyguard. The seven decided they needed to create a monster of their own. Fjall undergoes the procedure even though ile volunteers for it. It almost killed him, but he survived.

With enhanced abilities that allow him to face the beast in battle, Fjall fights to the death with the creature. ile ends Fjall's pain by killing him.

ile becomes pregnant with his child, a baby marked with beast and magic, after sharing a night of passion with him. A prophecy delivered to ile by one of fantasy's favorite deus ex machinas shows her bloodline will endure across the centuries and one of her blood will sing the last note.

The Wild Hunt

The wild hunt is in the second season.

Eredin is a quasi-antagonistic character in all four episodes of Blood Origins. He is one of Balor's main allies in the coup, who began scheming with Merwyn to take over other worlds using the monoliths. Balor left Eredin and his soldiers for dead during his last journey to another world. Eredin shows him on a red and desolate planet in his last scene. Eredin found a skull buried in the dirt and put it on as a helmet.

Fans of the series might recognize Eredin as the King of the Wild Hunt, a supernatural elven cavalry, and the main antagonist from The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Blood Origin's inclusion of the King confirms that the cavalry will complicate things for Geralt, Yen, and Ciri, and that the Wild Hunt will play a major role in season 3.

Time travel?

Avallac'h talking to someone off-camera in The Witcher Blood Origin.

There is a reference to a scene from the first season of The Witcher. Ciri is playing with a group of children. She looks around and sees nothing. According to Blood Origin, there is someone there who was an advisor to Merwyn. He is able to travel in time using the monoliths before he is attacked.

There is a post-credit scene that hints at a bigger role for Avallac'h. He is depicted in the books as an elf supremacist with the ability to travel between worlds. It makes sense that they would change the origin of the character. He will play a key role in Ciri's storyline in season 3.

The Witcher: Blood Origin is available to watch on the internet.
