Pickett finds Pickens for Steelers' late go-ahead TD (0:42)

Kenny Pickett found George Pickens in the end zone for a touchdown in the fourth quarter. There is a time and a place.

11:57 PM ET

Mike Tomlin was not prepared to go there.

The rookies scored the winning touchdown in that game five decades and one day ago, and George Pickens did the same in this one.

The similarities stop there. During the league's 100th anniversary season in 2020, Harris' play was voted the most famous in football history.

It was not what happened at Acrisure Stadium.

"I don't want to put it in that neighborhood," he said. It wasn't even in that city.

While paying tribute to Harris, Pittsburgh's young offense put together an impressive late drive that kept the team's playoff hopes alive.

Two days before the golden anniversary of his defining play and three days before the franchise retired his number, the Hall of Fame running back died. It was supposed to be a celebration of his career when he died.

All but one of the current players were born after Harris retired. The entire team should wear replicas of Harris' jersey on Saturday night, according to Pat Freiermuth, a Penn State graduate.

The defensive end ran onto the field and waved a huge flag with Harris' number on it A dummy was created by Pickett. Franco sneaked for a first down before calling.

After Art Rooney presented Dana Dokmanovich with her husband's jersey, she leaned into him for support.

This was dedicated to Franco. It felt like he was with us.

The quarterback completed 26 of 39 passes and had a touchdown and an pick up. Freiermuth caught seven passes for 66 yards and Najee Harris had 95 total yards as the Steelers won their fifth game in a row.

We are still in the hunt. As the weeks go on, I think we will get better and better.

Carr threw for 174 yards with a touchdown and three turnovers, the last one a floater down the middle of the field that was picked off by the other team with 29 seconds left. The Pittsburgh rookies ran for a first down on the final play of the game.

Coming off a dramatic last-play victory over New England last week, the Raiders reverted to their form from earlier in the season, as they lost their eighth one-score game of the year. By the end of the week, they could be out of the playoffs.

"We've pulled out lots of games and then to lose in this fashion when you have a chance to win, you realize you're close but close doesn't really count in this league," Las Vegas head coach Josh McDaniels said. I need to do a better job of closing the gap.

The Raiders found themselves on the right side of the field for the first 59 minutes of the game.

Carr threw a 14-yard touchdown pass to Hunter Renfrow on the first play of the game as the temperature was minus-13 degrees.

The first signature moment of what the Steelers hope will be a decorated career was provided by Pickett, who was taken with the 20th overall pick in the 2022.

"I can't tell you enough about our young offensive players," he said. They made the right plays. With a good Christmas, we move forward.
