The major winter storm that is ruining Christmas for so many travelers is affecting Southwest Airlines. The subject line of the memo was State of Operational Emergency. There has been a high number of absences from our ramp agent employees. Due to the personnel shortage, I am declaring a state of operational emergency on December 21, 2022. Southwest Airlines' new boarding process isn't going to make everyone happy.

The most shocking part of the memo is that employees will be told to provide a doctor's note on the first day back to work if they claim to be sick. Telemedicine or Telehealth doctor notes will not be accepted to excuse an absence of illness during the state of operational emergency, according to the directive.

There is a rumor that a lot of Southwest Rampers in Denver quit.

Southwest Airlines is operating under a state of operational emergency according to a member of their public relations team. When an operational emergency occurs, it puts parameters in place, like requiring a doctor's note for employees to return to work if they call in sick.

There are weather delays and flight cancelations during the holiday season.

Southwest is having a meltdown of unprecedented proportions after doing some research on social media. There are lines at the Southwest counter at Denver International Airport, and Brandon L Richard posted a video on his social media accounts.

The situation is so dire that a Southwest flight was forced to return to Tampa after entering Oklahoma airspace. The passengers went on a four hour flight to nowhere which is not fun.

There are stories from all kinds of disgruntled passengers that can be found on the Southwest Airlines website. Some of the lowlights are listed.

Southwest Airlines stranded tons of people in Denver with canceled flights. Southwest Airlines couldn't help the disabled. The flyer is the first of it's kind. It will never happen again.

I have been in the Denver airport for 9 hours and I am not surprised. For the next few days, I would not allow you to fly through here.

Have any Southwest Airlines customers been able to get their luggage back from the Denver Airport?

Southwest Airlines at Denver is terrible. 40 people are waiting in line and one person is working. Everything is delayed or canceled before the deadline.

Southwest Airlines was on hold for 3 hours and the music stopped. I have children at the airport. The canceled flight is no longer showing up in the southwest app. You are losing faith in your airline.

We didn't end up flying anywhere after almost 20 hours in the Denver airport. Southwest and United, thank you for the whole cluster.

Southwest Airlines apologized on the social networking site. We understand that once the wheels hit the ground, our customers are ready to start. We regret waiting for a gate when your mom arrives in Denver. We will pull in as soon as possible, please continue to hang in there.

The fact that it is over the Christmas holiday makes it less appealing to go to work, even though it is cold and windy. Southwest made a huge mistake not being proactive and just canceling all flights to Denver so they wouldn't get all the bad publicity from their customers.

One huge incident like this, which is preventing customers from spending Christmas with loved ones, is unforgettable and their policy to require a doctor's note from their employees is unacceptable.

You can watch it.
