Nashville mayor John Cooper requested that the Tennessee Titan's game against the Houston Texans be delayed because of the extreme cold.

The Houston Texans will play the Tennessee TITANS at Nissan Stadium on Saturday at Noon. TheTitans have tarps on the playing surface and are blowing hot air onto the field using gas powered blowers to thaw out the ground three hours prior to the game. There is ice on the sideline and near the end zones, but the field that is visible is mostly thaw.

The mayor's statement has not been commented upon by the TITANS.

The Tennessee Valley Authority has ordered local power companies to reduce load and have planned intermittent interruptions to power supply due to high demand. The temperature at Nissan Stadium is negative-1 degrees.

The dominance of Henry against the Texans is ridiculous.

Cooper said that he had been told that TVA's rolling blackouts would continue. All businesses should use less power. The game was supposed to be played at 12pm, but I requested that it be postponed in order to support our neighbors. TVA needs to invest in infrastructure to be able to deal with extreme temperatures.

I’ve been informed that TVA’s unilateral rolling blackouts will continue. All non-essential businesses should reduce power usage. I’ve asked the @Titans to postpone their 12pm game in solidarity with our neighbors.

John Cooper is the Mayor.

The game at Nissan Stadium is likely to be one of the most frigid in the stadium's history. The previous record for the lowest actual temperature at a football game was 23 degrees, and the previous record was 14 degrees.

Even though power restrictions were in effect at the time, the city did not delay the game. Cooper said that the arena was powered by generators instead of the TVA.
