  • Permanent residences starting at $1 million will be the starting point for TheMV Narrative.

A report says that an employee of Meta bought a lease for a cruise ship condo so he could continue to work from home.

According to CNBC, Austin Wells, an employee of Reality Labs, will be one of the residents on theMV Narrative.

Guests will be allowed to live permanently at sea for a price. The studios went on the market for a million dollars.

Wells told CNBC that he was attracted to the idea of seeing the world while maintaining a semblance of routine that would allow him to continue working. The price tag for the soon-to-be digital nomad was capped at 12 years by the lease.

Wells said that he doesn't have to change his daily routine in order to see the world.

"If you want to go somewhere, you pack a bag, you get on a flight, you rent a room, and all of my grocery stores travel the world with me," he said.

When the ship sets sail in Europe in five years, Wells will continue to work on the west coast. It's likely that you'll work late evenings and early mornings.

He told CNBC that he might be able to see a city midday to afternoon and then start his workday around 6 or 7 pm.

The MV Narrative promises residents the chance to visit all six continents on a 1,000 day circumnavigation, spending an average of three days in each port.

The price tag includes almost everything a resident could need, with food, drink, and laundry services provided, along with all the recreational activities found on a luxury cruise liner.

Meta Wells plans to shrink its office space and expand work from home in order to cut costs.
