Sky Sports News understands that Mariam Mahmood is interested in playing for Pakistan.

In her first interview with a major platform, British-Pakistani Mahmood opened up to Sky Sports News about her love for West Brom, where she has come through the ranks and established herself as an important part of the first-team squad.

That caught the attention of Pakistan scouts, who contacted West Brom Women about Mahmood's availability to play for Pakistan immediately off the back of the story.

Sky Sports News understands that the teenager's only focus at the time was to continue improving and developing as a footballer.

Dave Lawrence, the director of football at West Bromwich, and Jenny Sugarman, the manager, have high praise for Mahmood.

The Pakistan Women played at the SAFF in Nepal in September for the first time in eight years.

In the last five games before the winter break, the 18-year-old forward scored six goals and has been playing the best football of her life.

One of those goals came against Derby County at The Hawthorns, where Mahmood became just the third woman to score at the stadium.

Kira Rai, a British South Asian footballer, was on target in that game as well.

Rai called for change in the women's game in an interview with Sky Sports News.

Rai told Sky that it has to change.

A lot more work needs to be done at the elite level to make it a level playing field.

The authorities will have to do more to get to that stage - and even then they have to keep pushing.

Everyone needs to do more to make it more diverse.

When contacted by Sky Sports News, the Football Association was unable to provide any ethnicity data on girls and women's elite pathways.

Sky Sports News referred to the FA's Asian Inclusion Strategy update and wider Diversity and Inclusion strategy.

After making history by becoming the first woman to score four goals in an international match for Pakistan during her country's win against theMaldives in the SAFF tournament, she was called up to the national team for the World Cup.

A group of British-Pakistani players, including Khan, are at a Pakistan National Team training camp.

Hanif and Malik are playing for Pakistan for the first time, and could be in a four-nation tournament in Saudi Arabia.

Hanif was a transfer target for the former Harlow Town Ladies boss, who put her name forward for consideration by Pakistan.

Amina has quick feet, a high football IQ and a genuine willingness to learn and improve. If she continues to do the right things, she will do great things in the game.

While in Pakistan, she celebrated her 21st birthday while playing for London Seaward in the Women's National League Division one South East side.

"Zahmena doesn't know how good she is and is going from strength to strength," he said. She's playing at a good standard with a really good club. Zahmena is a player who can do anything if she keeps going.
