  • Almost 50 witness testimony transcripts were released Friday.

  • The transcript contains information about the committee's interview with Hope.

  • She said that he felt like he was being unfairly blamed for everything that happened.

According to a transcript released on Friday by the House select committee investigating the January 6, 2021, insurrection, former White House Communications Director Hope Hicks told the committee that former President Donald Trump felt like he was being unfairly blamed for the Capitol Hill riot.

She was one of the few people in Trump's circle who communicated to him that he lost.

The day after the deadly insurrection, Trump had a conversation with Hicks.

I was asked if I thought it was as bad as people were saying. The transcript shows that my answer was that it was.

The response to it wasn't fair, she said.

On January 12, 2021, after she resigned from the White House, she said she communicated to Trump that he should change his approach.

I told him that if he focused on the things people really cared about, banning him from social media wouldn't work.

She objected to Trump asking if she thought the election was stolen.

She said that they exchanged pleasantries and that was it.

He felt like he was being blamed for everything that happened.

While investigating the Capitol riot and how Trump was involved, the committee released a full report on Thursday. They recommended to the Justice Department that Trump be charged with a crime.

He was not available for comment.
