A Los Angeles jury on Friday found rapper Tory Lanez guilty of three felonies in the 2020 shooting of hip-hop star Megan Thee Stallion.

The jury of seven women and five men deliberated for one day before convicting the 30-year-old Canadian rapper of assault with a semiautomatic firearm, having a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle and discharging a firearm with grossNegligence. Up to 22 years in prison could be the result of the counts.

As the verdict was read, Lanez, who was wearing a coat and pants, showed no reaction. The man was in the courtroom.

After the jury left the courtroom, Lanez's father shouted. The system is judged before God. As they closed in on him, he yelled. He yelled at the two prosecutors that they were evil. You are aware of what you did.

The man was removed from the courtroom by the sheriff's office.

The public and media were forced to stay in the courtroom for a short time after the hearing.

Megan Thee Stallion, whose legal name is Megan Pete, testified during the trial that Lanez fired a handgun at the back of her feet and shouted for her to dance as she walked away from an SUV in which they had been riding. She said the two got into a fight when she began to insult his music.

There were bullet fragments in her feet.

Alex Spiro said that the jury got it correct. There is justice for Meg.

Outside court, Lanez's attorneys could not be reached. The emails were not immediately returned.

The shooting set off a storm of cultural issues and arguments, including the reluctance of Black victims to speak to police, the protection of Black women, and online toxicity.

Prosecutors said it took courage for Megan to come forward and that she has faced a lot of hate. She had no incentive to lie.

She wouldn't lie. The deputy district attorney spoke. She has been the target of a lot of hate. Is this for something? To come forward as a victim of domestic violence.

According to Lanez's lawyer, the shots were fired by Megan's best friend, who was jealous of Lanez. George said Megan created a more sympathetic narrative by pinning the shooting on Lanez.

Megan Pete isn't telling the truth. She lied to everyone from the beginning. She lied in front of the committee.

Harris denied being the person holding the gun. Her attorney did not respond to her involvement.

Lanez moved on to major-label albums after releasing his first mixtape in 2009. He reached the top 10 on the charts.

At the time of the shooting, Megan Thee Stallion was a rising star, and her prominence has increased since. She won a gramophone for best new artist in the year 2021.

That's right.
