A Dallas County judge ruled this week that Jerry Jones must submit to a test to find out if he is the father of a woman in North Texas.
It was reported on Friday.
The Cowboys owner is the subject of a lawsuit filed by a woman who claims to be his daughter. The original lawsuit was dismissed. Davis asked for the test again.
According to court documents, Davis claimed in the original lawsuit that she is her biological father. Cynthia Davis reached a financial settlement with Jones to support her and her child as long as they didn't publicly identify Jones as the father according to the lawsuit.
Davis is trying to prove that Mr. Jones is her father by filing a new lawsuit, according to Andrew Bergman.
There was an argument in Dallas County court on Thursday.
According to the Dallas Morning News, the Jones legal team is appealing the decision.
The Dallas Cowboys have been owned by Jones for over twenty years. Forbes states that the Cowboys are one of the most valuable sports teams in the world.
Attorneys for Jones argued that the 192nd Judicial District court does not have jurisdiction over the issue of child rearing.
McCathern and Babcock argued that Davis' claims were not justiciable because they have not happened.
Lawyers for Jones wrote in the filing that the court couldn't assert jurisdiction over the claims because they weren't ripe. The Davis claims should be dismissed with prejudice.
According to the filing, Davis sent Jones a draft of her lawsuit before it was filed, and asked if he could make a deal to keep his identity secret.
The lawsuit was filed after Jones refused to pay.
Lawyers for Jones said that Davis had made overtures.
All allegations were denied in the initial lawsuit against Jones.
She asked to be recognized as Jones' daughter and released from the confidentiality agreement that her mother agreed to on her behalf, and without her consent, as a baby.
