Los Angeles Lakers star Anthony Davis has had a subsiding of pain in his right foot stress injury and is expected to re-evaluate the possibility of resuming play after another seven to 10 days of rest.
Sources said that there is still hope that Davis can avoid surgery on his stress injury, even though the Lakers said on Friday that he is out.
The Lakers and Davis will be cautious with the injury, but there is hope that they could be back in action soon.
During a game against the Denver Nuggets last week, Davis injured his foot when he bumped his lower right leg with Jokic while they were in the air.
The Lakers said that Davis' injury was a stress injury and that they consulted with doctors and outside specialists. It was previously reported that Davis wouldn't be able to play for at least a few weeks because of the injury.
According to sources, the pain in Davis' right foot is subsiding and he is expected to rest it for another seven to 10 days. It will be reexamined for a possible return to play.
There is hope that a procedure can be avoided in the future.
Davis will miss his fourth game in a row when the Lakers host the Charlotte Hornets on Saturday. Since the Denver game, the Lakers have been without him.
The 11-year veteran had been enjoying a career renaissance this season, averaging 27.4 points on a career-best 59.4% from the field, while also grabbing a career-high 12.1 rebound per game.
