All but one Democrat voted in favor of the bill while all but nine Republicans voted against it.

18 Republicans joined all Democrats in approving the bill in the Senate.

The federal government will continue to be funded through September 30.

It includes domestic and defense spending as well as emergency military and humanitarian aid.

$60 billion for natural disaster relief, $785 million for migrant services in sanctuary cities, and $5 billion for the Cost of War Toxic Exposures Fund are included in the bill.

There is a provision in the bill to reform the Electoral Count Act and to clarify that the role of the vice president in certifying electoral votes is ceremonial.

It also includes a ban on social media platform TikTok on government devices, following multiple statewide initiatives to ban the app because it could be used to spy on Americans.

Kevin McCarthy, a prominent critic of the spending package, said it was one of the most shameful acts he had ever witnessed. If McCarthy becomes speaker, Democrat-led bills like the government spending package will be dead on arrival in the House.

What To Watch For

The package will be signed into law by Biden as soon as it reaches his desk, he said in a statement.
