Sean McVay's future as head coach of the Los Angeles Rams could be in question in the final weeks of the NFL regular season in 2022.

I wouldn't be surprised if Sean walked away, at least for a year, according to an NFL executive. He was close to doing it once. If he left, I wouldn't be shocked.

After the Rams won the Super Bowl, there was a lot of speculation about the 36-year old.

According to The Athletic's Mike Sando, an NFL team executive heard rumors of McVay's willingness to transition to the broadcast booth.

Several executives have made the Jon Gruden comparison with his career path. After the 2008 season, the Buccaneers parted ways with their head coach. Even though he was still in his 40's at the time, he decided to stay with the team and return to the sideline in the year after.

McVay has said in the past that he doesn't want to be an NBA coach.

The MMQB's Albert Breer reported on The Rich Eisen Show that McVay might wait until the four of them leave before he quits.

After the Rams' Super Bowl triumph, it appeared that the franchise still had a chance to win a title. The outlook has changed with Los Angeles last in the west.

McVay could move up his retirement plans if he knew that Los Angeles was on a downward path.

Peter King wrote that anyone who is paying attention has to have some uncertainty about whether Sean McVay returns to coach the Rams.

According to King, broadcasting may not be the right place for McVay to start his coaching career because the league's major media partners already have their eye on analysts.

King said that he would put his money on McVay being back to coach the Rams.

All of the key figures within the organization will be motivated by the fact that the Rams have fallen short of expectations. It would be easy for McVay to give it one more season.
