The San Francisco Giants are hoping Michael Conforto can give them a spark after losing Carlos Correa.

Conforto has agreed to a two-year deal with the Giants.

The opt-out is included in the deal after the 2023 season, according to a report.

Before he had shoulder surgery, Conforto was a bounce-back candidate. He might sign with a team after July's MLB draft, which would remove any draft-pick compensation from his contract, according to his agent.

Nobody decided to take the chance.

Conforto's value took a hit even before the shoulder injury. He had one of the worst years of his career.

Conforto didn't sign a new contract before opening day in 2021. The Mets want to keep the All-Star that March, according to SandyAlderson.

According to the New York Post's Ken Davidoff,Alderson said that they had had Conforto for a long time. He has become a part of the leadership group in the club. He has represented the Mets well over the years. We will try to keep Michael with us.

The Mets were not as aggressive in landing George Springer, who signed with Toronto for six years and $150 million, because of a new deal for Michael Conforto.

On George Springer, Sandy Alderson says it really came down to willing to go five years, but not six. He also adds, "had we signed Springer, probably less likely we'd be able to sign Conforto, for example."

According to MLB.com's Anthony DiComo, Conforto might look to sign for $200 million or more, which would surpass the total amount Springer received.

His performance did not help his bargaining position with the Mets.

In 125 games, Conforto hit 14 home runs and drove in 55 runs. His career average was.352, but his weighted on base average was.322.

The Mets offense as a whole was not up to par. The hitting coach and assistant hitting coach were both let go in the middle of the season.

Lindor's batting average fell to.230. Dominic Smith hit.525 and.616 in the two years before he finished with a.363 percentage. Jeff's on- base percentage went from.383 to.317. The other people who struggled at the plate were not the only ones.

He was a consistent producer in New York before he became a producer. His expected batting average was worse than his career average, but it was still better than what he has posted in the past.

The shoulder injury is a big deal. Nobody knows if he'll rebound after a clean bill of health. After the surgery, he might never be the same player.

Signing Conforto is a worthwhile risk for San Francisco because he was so good in the last two years. His demand for $200 million looks laughable, but his market value before the 2021 season was less than that.

The Giants are justified in their investment.

The move could help San Francisco, but it won't fix what has been a disaster for the team.

Carlos Rodn was the ace of the staff. The Yankees re-signed Judged after he entertained overtures from the Giants. As Correa left San Francisco at the altar and signed with the New York Mets, the last insult came.

The Giants feel like the 2023 season is a lost cause because of Conforto.
