Keilar went after Lofgren over the referral of a number of Republicans to the House Ethics Committee instead of the Justice Department.

The select committee was formed to investigate the deadly riot at the U.S. Capitol.

The move to refer their cases to the Ethics Committee comes as Republicans are set to take over control of the House next month. McCarthy is favored to become speaker, and it is not likely that GOP members will investigate other Republicans.

Mediaite reported that the committee referred other cases of people who failed to comply with its subpoenas to the Justice Department.

Keilar asked Lofgren about the lawmakers' cases being referred to the ethics committee.

You know that nothing will come of that. Keilar wanted to know.

Keilar said that Lofgren knows that Republicans are not going to take action against her.

Sending this referral to the ethics committee will cause it to die in that committee. Why would you do that? Keilar kept going.

In the video below, you can hear Lofgren's thoughts on the Ethics Committee's response.
