The antitrust body in India ordered the firm to stop using anti-competitive practices in the overseas market.

The company has approached the National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT), the nation'sppellate tribunal, to appeal against the Competition Commission of India's October order.

The decision to appeal the CCI's decision onAndroid presents a major setback for our Indian users and businesses who trustAndroid's security features and potentially raising the cost of mobile devices.

We are committed to users and partners and will make our case in NCLAT.

In October, the CCI, which began investigating Google three and a half years ago, said that it finds that the company requires device manufacturers to pre- install its entire mobile suite and mandating prominent placement of those apps, and thus is in violation of antitrust laws.

The CCI ordered the firm to allow app developers to use third-party payments processing services for in-app purchases or for purchasing apps after hitting it with an $113 million fine.

Over 500 million users are found in the South Asian market, which is a big part of India's market. Over the past decade, the company has poured billions of dollars into its India business.
