On Thursday night, Major League Baseball announced that an independent arbiter had reduced the length of Bauer's suspension. After the arbitrator applied credit for the time Bauer was on the restricted list, he can return to baseball immediately. What made the decision happen? What is Bauer going to do in baseball? There are a lot of questions surrounding the pitcher's possible return.

Last year, Bauer was suspended.

The full findings of the league's nine-month investigation have never been made public. A woman in San Diego requested a temporary restraining order against him in the summer of 2020 after accusing him of taking rough sex too far. Two other women from Ohio made similar accusations while speaking to The Washington Post. The confidentiality provisions of the domestic violence policy prevent the public from knowing if there are any other alleged victims.

Bauer claimed that any sexual acts wereconsensual. The Los Angeles District Attorney's Office declined to prosecute him in February, but under the domestic violence policy that was agreed to by MLB and the union in August 2015, he does not need to meet the guilt beyond Bauer deserved to be suspended far longer than any player had ever been suspended for domestic violence violations. A third party agreed to the ruling.

The decision to reduce the suspension was made by someone.

The MLB and the MLB Players' Association have retained a man named Martin Scheinman to serve as an independent arbiter. Over the course of seven months, he was the head of a three-person panel that reviewed MLB's findings and spoke to witnesses. Interviews were done over video conference. More than 20 witnesses were called and at least two accusers testified from MLB headquarters, according to a Washington Post report. The three women whose allegations became public were the focus of the process, according to the Post. A source with knowledge of the situation says that the San Diego woman testified three times.

He decided what to do.

Bauer's suspension was reduced by 130 games but he was still given the longest suspension ever under the domestic violence policy. Fifty games of Bauer's suspension would have been left if he hadn't served so many games. Bauer was given partial credit for spending the second half of the season on administrative leave after the first accusations became public. Bauer will be docked pay for the first 50 games of the season, but will be able to return to work after the season is over.

What do you think about Bauer's future in baseball?

Bauer will be able to pitch on opening day. He is under contract with the Dodgers for the final season of his three-year, $102 million deal. If Bauer doesn't sign with another team, the Dodgers will owe him $22.50 million of his $32 million salary, which is the minimum salary for a major leaguer.

Bauer did not pitch in a major league game in over a year. In his first 17 starts with the Dodgers, he had a 2.59 earned run and 137 strikeouts. The National League Cy Young Award went to Bauer. He continues to train at his facility in the Phoenix area, where he posts videos of himself throwing.

How will this affect the Dodgers?

Do the Dodgers bring back Bauer or let him go? A number of players in the Dodgers' locker room have advocated for the team to cut ties regardless of the outcome of his appeal. The Dodgers must make a decision by January 6.

The pressure on the Dodgers' competitive balance tax was alleviated by the decision of the arbiter. Los Angeles is estimated to have a payroll of $199 million in the upcoming season. The Dodgers' CBT number is the average annual value of Bauer's contract. The Dodgers' luxury tax burden was reduced by almost $10 million because of Bauer's 50 games of pay being docked. They would have exceeded the threshold at Bauer's full salary if that had happened.

If the Dodgers exceed the threshold for the third year in a row, the base tax rate for every dollar spent would be 50%. The money between $253 million and $273 million would be subject to aPukiWikiPukiWiki. The Dodgers are not likely to come close to the upper thresholds and could potentially stay under the lowest.
