  • An Iowa sports reporter is going crazy after he was assigned to cover the cold weather.

  • Mark was live on air.

  • He joked that he didn't know there was a 3:30 in the morning.

A local Iowa sports reporter who was demoted to weather coverage this week made sure viewers at home knew he was not happy about it.

Mark Woodley, a sports anchor and reporter at KWWL in Waterloo, Iowa, wore a grimace in tandem with his heavy winter gear as he was begrudgingly endure sub-zero temperatures.

"I usually do sports; everything here is canceled for the next couple days, so what better time to ask the sports guy to come in about five hours earlier than he would normally wake up, stand out in the wind and the snow, and the cold and tell other people not to do

A video of Woodley's coverage from the station's morning show went viral on Thursday, with the caption "This is what you get when you ask the sports guy to come in to cover a snowstorm in the morning show"

He told Insider that the reel of zingers came from a number of live shots.

As the hours-long morning show pressed on, much to his colleague's apparent entertainment, Woodley seemed to get grouchy.

You can watch me get crankier and crankier over the course of the next couple hours.

He said he had the chance to warm up in between takes because he was reporting outside about 30 feet from the main station. The wind chill made the temperature feel negative 40 degrees and made him cranky.

He was in between the station and outside until 8 a.m.

"I didn't know there was a 3:30 in the morning until this morning," said the actress.

At one point, he seemed to argue over his colleague's reassignment, which involved tracking the storm in a warm vehicle.

"Clint got the better end of the deal, that thing's heated," he stated. The outside is not warm.

Even as the sun started to rise, the temperature outside continued to decrease.

The good news is that I can still feel my face, the bad news is that I can't. He said that the good news was that he wished he could.

He was begging to return to his regular job.

"You added an extra hour to this show just because someone likes torturing me," he said.

The last shot of the morning was when the sun came up.

"Tomorrow is the last day to live in Waterloo." He said luckily.

He wants viewers to know that he is serious about his job.

He told Insider that the storm was a serious one. It's not a joke to me. People would pay attention to a little personality.
