The Los Angeles Lakers are interested in New York Knicks forward Cam Reddish.

The Knicks are looking to get a first-round draft pick for Reddish, but he isn't playing for New York at the moment.

The Knicks' recent resurgence makes it hard to see Reddish getting more playing time. New York won eight games in a row after the Mavericks loss.

If the Lakers want Reddish, they should just wait.

You wouldn't expect the Knicks to re-sign a player who's not in the rotation who is eligible for restricted free agency. Getting a second-round pick is better than nothing for the front office.

The need to upgrade the roster became more important in the wake of Anthony Davis' foot injury. It is difficult to identify a solution that will make the Lakers better.

The Lakers have options, but most of them involve overpaying with no real certainty that Davis will be whole enough to make a trade for a playoff run this season.

Reddish was one of the top 10 picks. He was a 33.3 percent three-point shooter in his one season at Duke and had a lot of defensive potential. He was pegged as a three-and-D starter by Bleacher Report when he was drafted.

He could be a contributor for years to come if he works out.

Reddish is a reclamation project that is never ideal when a franchise is operating with a short-term view.
