Atlanta Hawks star point guard Trae Young could be the next player to request a trade if the team doesn't make inroads come the playoffs, according to executives in attendance at the NBA's annual G League Winter showcase.

Young is competitive and wants to win big in this league. He has an early terminated option after the 26th season.

The chemistry that helped propel Atlanta to the Eastern Conference Finals two years ago has not been found. The Hawks lost to the Miami Heat in the playoffs last year. They are currently ninth in the Eastern Conference with a 16-16 record. The addition of Dejounte Murray was encouraged by Young.

Atlanta ownership has a new president who drafted Young. The Hawks' shape of the roster around Young will be watched closely. Young and Fields have a good relationship according to a source.

The hard part is executing what Fields has the green light to do. It is not clear if the organization can return a package that would make the team better.
