Remember when you could get a 3D-printed Star Wars, Ghostbusters, G.I. Joe, or Power Rangers figure for $60 plus tax? I am still blown away by the likeness of my toy, even though it is not a perfect one. This may be the perfect gift for a fan.

I'm going to show you Mini Mandalorian Sean so you can make your own judgement.

The details here are not bad for the price, and I wish it came with the helmet. You get his armor, the Mudhorn signet, a stretchy shoulder belt and pistol pouch, and enough joints to pose him almost any way you want.

The sculpt, blaster rifle, pistol, and jetpack accessories of the Star Wars The Black Series figure are similar to those of this one that retails for $20 to $30. I have the earlier version of that figure, pre-Besker armor, to compare with.

I could surprise people by revealing that the Mandalorian has always been me, because it just needs a helmet.

Pulling off a helmet isn't likely to clue people in. My wife says that it looks like him. I asked my three-year-old if it looked like someone she knew, but she couldn't figure it out. She has been able to pick me out of a picture.

Mitchell Clark says it looks like me from some angles. I don't know if he's damning with praise or not.

The jaw is the biggest problem, according to my wife. I don't have an egg shaped face. I have a round face. I was worried because the app couldn't tell me my face shape. When I got to the 3D model, it seemed to have rounded out my face, after I had turned my head for a few selfies.

The scans were always egg-shaped. Sean Hollister made a screen shot.

There are a lot of beard options. Sean Hollister made a screen shot.

It still gives me a sense of familiarity, and I like the way the head looks. I was expecting to see some telltale signs that it was 3D printed, but I can't see them without a magnifying glass. Formlabs was a good partner for that.

It is difficult to get a good match for the hair and beard styles as they are not part of the scans. It's difficult to estimate how much facial hair your figure will end up with because you can't get the hair and beard the same color. The Power Ranger can be seen below. The beard I picked was light and bushy. I tried to compensate by going even lighter, but it didn't work out.

I would like to know if I was satisfied with my purchase. I am on the fence, but I would have loved to receive it as a gift, and I am happy to say that is no longer a problem.

You can leave it all in their hands on Christmas Day instead of trying to surprise them with a mini-me. If you buy a digital code, your friend or family member can download the app and decide if they want to send scans of their face across the internet, or choose their own hero and hairstyle. If they don't go through with it, you'll get a full refund within 45 days.

The full set of options can be found here.

The face data of your giftee will only be kept for 60 days after the ship date. If a replacement needs to be issued within 60 days from the ship date, it's not used by the company. The scans won't be used for advertising or marketing.

I would love to see how similar you are to this figure. I will leave you with some alternate reality versions of me.
