Curb space in cities is in high demand. Curbs aren't just for buses, taxis, deliveries and parking anymore. Those traditional use cases have to contend with a lot of new things. Software that helps manage curb space is being prioritized by cities and investors.

A four-year-old startup has just closed a $9 million seed round to improve its automated curb management solution. According to the company, its tech can reduce congestion and emissions by up to 10%, reduce double-parking hazard by 64%, increase parking turnover by 26%, and increase parking revenue by over 500%.

The startup said it works with cities such as Santa Monica, Los Angeles, Pittsburgh, Omaha and Bethlehem to automate payments for vehicle unloading and parking, enforce curb violations and manage preferred loading zones.

A more comprehensive view of how the public right of way is being used and by which modes for planning, policy, and pricing efforts can be obtained by integrating with other mobility service providers.

In the year and a half since, the company has raised an additional $7.8 million. The most recent funds were led by a number of companies.

The majority of the funding will be used to support deployment in at least 15 new cities in the next few years. We have a big year of launches ahead of us and are laser focused on delivering the best possible solutions for our clients.

It is important to install the right hardware in order to collect data. The startup uses cellular-enabled cameras in its partner cities. In areas where there is a lot of loading and unloading, the cameras are mounted on traffic lights.

There is no need to download apps or use meters. The cameras capture images of license plates and automatically collect data, issue invoices for parking or send out citations if a vehicle has been non- compliant to the city's regulations Privacy of street users is ensured by the technology that blurs faces.
