Jofra Archer
Archer played a key role in England's 2019 World Cup win

After being named in the one-day squad to play South Africa, Jofra is in line for his first England appearance in almost two years.

The fast bowler has not played for England in over a year.

Test batters Ben Duckett and Harry Brook are in, as well as bowler Reece Topley, who has recovered from an ankle injury.

There will be three one-day internationals on 27 January.

Mark Wood did not play in the Test series against Pakistan.

The International League T20 will take place in the United Arab Emirates from 13 January to 12 February and has a former Test captain as a player.

Liam Livingstone, who injured his knee in the first Test, misses out.

England's defence of their 50-over world title in India in the autumn will be the start of preparations, although a two-Test tour of New Zealand follows after the final one-dayer.

Jofra Archer
Injury has frequently interrupted Archer's England career since his Test debut in August 2019

He made a great start to his international career in the World Cup final, bowling the super over, but his progress has been stopped since.

He was out of the season after suffering a back stress fracture in May.

He was a part of the England team that played in a practice match against the full England team. Since his last England appearance, he has played in two first-team games.

England left after the T20 leg of the South Africa series because of Covid-19 concerns.

England are going to tour Bangladesh in March for three one-day internationals and three T20's.

'He wouldn't be going if he couldn't play a full part'

Steven Finn, a former England bowler, believes that Archer could play a big part in the series.

Finn said that he wouldn't be named in the squad if they didn't think he could play a full part in the series.

England don't use international matches for players to build up their fitness.

He is in the prime of his career, so he has missed a lot of cricket.

Getting the injury sorted and having a sensible, managed route back to playing is a logical progression.
