Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy made a historic visit to Washington, DC, on Wednesday, in his first international trip since Russia invaded his country.
Zelenskyy's trip to Washington was reported on Tuesday. Zelenskyy's visit came a day after the Ukrainian president met with troops on the frontline in a city that Russia has tried and failed to capture for months.
Biden welcomed Zelenskyy to the White House for the first time in over a year.
Biden said it was an honor to be by the side of the Ukrainians in the fight against the Russians.
Biden said that the Ukrainian people were inspiring the world. I mean that sincerely, but also inspire the world with their courage.

Zelensky gave an emotional address to Congress on Wednesday evening, thanking US politicians for their previous assistance and aid, as well as mentioning his country's need for further military and financial help.
Money is not charity. He said that it was an investment in the global security and democracy.
Zelenskyy received a standing ovation from both sides of the aisle as he entered the House chamber to speak.
Reporters in the room noted that some right-wing lawmakers stayed seated during applause and standing ovations.
He said that he was confident in the ability of the Ukrainian people to survive further attacks from Russia.
Ukraine didn't fall despite all odds. He said thatUkraine is alive and well.
Zelenskyy said that the Ukrainian people would win as well.
Zelenskyy's speech came after the Ukrainian president joined Biden for a press conference in the afternoon, during which the latter reiterated US support to Ukraine.
The Ukrainian president told reporters that he was grateful for US help and that the two countries were fighting against tyranny.
He said he wanted to win together. I don't want." I'm sorry. I'm certain.
Over 100,000 casualties have been suffered by Russia. Russian forces have been losing ground in the face of a counteroffensive by the Ukrainians.
Putin made a rare admission on Tuesday that the war is not going well. One of the most embarrassing moments in the war for Moscow has been the treatment of Kherson by Russian forces.
Losses on numerous levels include personnel and infrastructure. Zelenskyy continues to ask for more assistance despite the fact that it has been heavily reliant on Western military aid.
Zelenskyy's visit came as Secretary of State Antony Blinken announced that the United States would give more than $1 billion in military assistance to the country. The statement said the system can bring down cruise missiles, short range missiles, and aircraft at a higher ceiling than previously provided air defense systems. The Western powers have been urged by the Ukrainian government to provide it with more advanced weaponry.
As lawmakers discuss a massive federal government spending bill that includes emergency assistance to Ukraine, the Ukrainian leader traveled to Washington.
McConnell offered full-throated support to provide more assistance to Ukraine. A number of congressional Republicans have expressed opposition to the levels of aid provided to Kyiv by the US.
Senate GOP leaders agreed to the latest round of aid for Ukraine even though it was already included in the year-end spending deal.
We don't have a lot of money to send toUkraine. Paul said that they need to borrow from China.
Zelenskyy was shut off without hard feelings by Paul. Paul told Insider that they wished him luck. My duty is to try to keep the national security of this country. I don't think it's a good idea to give money away that we don't have.
Zelenskyy and Senate Democrats pursued whatever resources they could on the Ukraine front, but Josh Hawley didn't like it. He trained his fire at the GOP leaders.
"I think the Senate Republicans have boosted it beyond what the White House wanted," he said.
He wondered if the high-profile visit would expose the US's poor organizational skills.
"If we had a government shut down because we had to stop for a joint session of Congress, it would be ironic," he said.
It's not likely that negotiations to end the war in Ukraine will happen in the foreseeable future as lawmakers debate aid to Kyiv. Russia wants its authority over the territories it annexed to be recognized before talks can happen. Any peace deal that would see it cede territory to Russia will not be accepted byUkraine. The fighting rages on in Ukraine as Putin makes nuclear threats and Russia targets civilians.
