The House January 6 committee released a transcript of its interview with far-right conspiracist theorist andInfoWars host Alex Jones.

The "Stop The Steal" rally was held in Washington, DC, before the assault on the US Capitol on January 6, 2021. He was subpoenaed by the committee in the fall of 2011.

When asked to provide his middle name at the beginning of the examination, the host of InfoWars made a mistake, spelling his name wrong.

Jones asked if he could spell his middle name for the record.

I know what my name is. Jones said it was on the record.

The investigator asked if he could ask the court reporter.

"E - m - I'm so stressed out, I can't even spell it for you," he said, as his lawyer stepped in to spell his name.

Jones is recorded as saying "E - m - i - r - c"

Select Committee to Investigate the January 6 Attack on the US Capitol

The 40-page transcript shows that Jones used the right to refuse to answer questions in order to avoid self-incrimination.

"On advice of my counsel, I'm asserting my Fifth Amendment right to remain silent," Jones replied to questions that ranged from whether he believed he was exposed to criminal prosecution, his connections to "Stop The Steal" organizers and his attendance of large-scale protests in Washington.

He accused a member of the committee of faking documents.

Jones said that he wouldn't address questions about the events of January 5 and 6 because they were forged. He said he didn't trust the congressman. He's going to make stuff.

His lawyer came to his aid.

He turned to his lawyer and said, "I don't know how to control this stuff." I have a similar system.

On his radio show, Jones said that investigators were polite, but they were also persistent.
