A robot could be looking for your job. In an interview with Yahoo Finance, the CEO of Krispy Kreme said that the company is considering adding robots to its workforce next year in order to fulfill its demand.

Within the next 18 months, you will see some automation going into the frosting, the filling, the sprinkles, and even the packaging. There are a lot of big factory stores that give fresh donuts around the world. It is going to the convenience shops, so you need to look at the automation capacity of that. Next year, you will see that happen.

Krispy Kreme did not immediately return our request for comment on whether the robots will only be rolled out to the company's factories or if customers will see them in storefronts.

According to Nation's Restaurant News, Krispy Kreme COO and interim CFO Josh Charlesworth said during the company's Investor Day that there is a chance of adding robots to both factories and storefronts over the next few years. Charlesworth said that Krispy Kreme was testing out automation that could add filling to donuts, remove filled donuts from the production line, and put them into a box. 18% of their donuts are said to be produced with automation.
