The FCC proposed a $299 million fine against the auto warranty scam. In just three months in 2021, the FCC made more than 5 billion calls and used just over 1 million caller ID numbers. The FCC said that there was enough calls to have called each person in the US fifteen times.
According to the FCC, the operation is run by Roy Cox Jr. and Michael Jones through their companies in Panama and Hungary. In July of this year, the FCC asked carriers not to carry calls from the operation because it was on its radar. The FCC's July action seems to have had a big effect on the decline in car warrantyrobo calls.
The FCC said that consumers described calls they received with the terms "incessant" and "harassment."
The FCC will give the operation a chance to respond. The FCC chair seemed happy with the action. She said to say goodbye to the auto warrantyrobo callers.
