Qua Russaw decided to go to Alabama.

He said that he had to make a decision at the end of the process. I think going to Alabama will be the best thing for me. I always come back to Alabama because everybody loves the state.

The Montgomery, Alabama, native is one of the top recruits in the nation for the class of 2020.

Russaw is a pure pass-rusher and an off-ball linebacker, according to a January evaluation by Cooper Petagna of Russaw.

There is a quick twitch that explodes off the line of scrimmage. There is a lack of length on the edge. Heavy hands are displayed at the point of attack. The ability to generate consistent pass-rush is shown. The player closes speed off the ball and displays a violence at the point of attack.

Russaw is a defensive player at Carver.

James Smith is ranked 18th in the nation. The pair were taking many of their visits together and could end up as a package deal at the next level.

Smith is moving to Tuscaloosa.

Russaw was able to command the spotlight despite sharing the same field as Smith.

Russaw was interested in Power Five programs. Among the schools that offered him a scholarship were Alabama, LSU, Texas A&M, Florida and USC.

His ability to play multiple positions should help him get on the field with the Tide. Petagna said that he can contribute to both the defense and the special teams.

Russaw doesn't profile as a pass-rusher like Will Anderson or Aidan Hutchinson. His sack total from Carver is what matters. He should become a valuable member of Alabama's defense.
