The news came after another 5-star recruit.

Uiagalelei is a 5-star prospect according to the rankings. He is one of the top players in his class.

He was recruited by many of the best programs in college football, including Alabama, Ohio State, Georgia, Texas, and others. He narrowed his list to USC, Ohio State and Oregon.

The fact that the other College Football Playoff contender was in on his recruitment hints at his potential.

Even though he wants to play on the defensive side in college, Uiagalelei played both tight end and defensive end in high school.

He is able to blow past offensive tackles off the edge because of his athletic ability. Throw in the strength to bulldoze his way through blockers and throw off the rushing attack or passing game, and it's easy to see him as a defensive game-changing player.

He stood out at several camps because of his combination of physical strength and athletic ability.

Uiagalelei is going to get better as he gets into a college program.

He can become one of the most dominant defensive players in the country early in his career if he does.

The defense proved to be a problem at times during the first year of Dan Lanning's tenure as the head coach of the Oregon. The losses to Georgia, Washington and Oregon State prevented it from competing for a conference title.

It is the best way to avoid such performances in the future.
