Matthew Stafford said the injury won't force him into retirement, despite being placed on injured reserve.

Stafford was asked in an interview if he is going to retire.

Stafford didn't say no.

Sean McVay said he doesn't think Stafford will need surgery for his neck injury.

McVay said he would be good. There is nothing like that that will be required or necessary. Matthew will feel good about being able to do a lot of things because he will have a healthy summer.

In the Rams' Week 11 loss to the New Orleans Saints, Stafford left the game after being evaluated for a concussion. Stafford felt some weakness in his legs after he was hit, according to McVay.

Stafford went into the concussion protocol for the second time in three weeks. He was placed on IR after clearing the concussion protocol.
