Dallas Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones said last week that he would stand by his team. Jones spoke on 105.3 The Fan in Dallas and put the brakes on the addition.
"As of this morning, we don't have anything," Jones said, "the reality is that time is moving on down the road relative to playing in the playoffs and so every day diminishing our chances."
If Beckham joined the Cowboys, the plan was to put him on injured reserve after he spent a day on the active roster. If he were to sign this week, he would have to sit out four games on injured reserve and miss the playoffs.
The Cowboys haven't advanced past the divisional round of the playoffs since 1995 and if they are to do so this year, they will have to win three road games in the playoffs. In the past three seasons, they've won on the road in the playoffs.
T.Y.Hilton was added to the Cowboys because he was able to play immediately. Kellen Moore has been impressed by the fact that Hilton wasn't in the game.
Moore said it was remarkable to see a guy show up in December in the NFL and be able to handle a system. He's going to be a great contributor to that room as we continue to build it.
