Captain Neil Swindells has been elected as the new union boss at United Airlines. One pilot sounded the alarm over Swindells' alleged history of antisemitism, bigotry, and racism in online forums.
There are online communities where pilots can discuss issues such as workplace policies, presidential elections, and more. The uglier side of the profession can be seen in the online forums, where guards are lowered and exchanges can be coarse.
Swindells was voted in as the new master chair of the United Master Executive Council. Some people were not cheering for his win.
The Captain, who goes by the handle FlyCaptColeman, lashed out at the President.
new chair of the @UnitedPilots who has a history of saying racist, bigoted and anti Semitic things online. The rest of his thousands of online forum posts are usually angry and mean spirited, but the gay jokes, DEI jokes and anti semitic comments cannot be ignored. MEC was warned

He also said something else.
I remain an advocate but cannot pretend we are a welcoming group that represents all pilots regardless of their true self. Very sad day to be a member. It will probably get worse before it gets better.

Coleman noted that Swindells had made derogatory remarks against women when he was called a racist by another user.
Don’t forget his comments about women as well! Yikes! He should resign immediately before doing any more damage. The MEC could say they didn’t know how bad it really was! #racist #bigot #dei #dfr

The source, speaking on the condition of anonymity, gave Live and Let's FlyScreenshots that show the controversy. Swindells uses the name "Chicago Blue" in pilot forums.
Live and Let's Fly contacted the ALPA.
Swindells now faces scrutiny after a paper trail of online posting history was found.
Neil Swindells has been accused of posting inflammatory comments on the internet. The fight for a new contract with United Airlines may be in danger after four years of failing to reach an agreement. As he takes on a new role, Swindell should clarify his previous comments.
