We are not that far away from the Consumer Electronics Show, where we should see new chip announcements. That is usually followed by a raft of Windows 11 laptop announcements that use the new Silicon, but that is not the case this time. There are some vague references to next- generation chips from the three companies. You can guess when those details are going to be filled in.
The IdeaPad Pro 5 and 5i are the only machines that will be coming to the United States. The 14- and 16-inch versions will only come with Intel's "next-gen" Core i5 and i7 options, with the 14-inch having a 2.2k display and the 16-inch having a 2.5 inch display. Thanks to improved thermals, you can expect enhanced performance, which will allow for a cooler and quieter experience. A new FHD IR webcam with a Time of Flight sensor is one of the changes for these machines.
You will be able to pick up the IdeaPad Slim with a 16-inch display and packing an Intel processor. You will be able to get a 16-inch Slim 5 with options for the Ryzen 3 (7330U), 5 (7530U) or 7 (7730U) processor, but you won't be able to get a 60Hz display. These new models have a physical shutter on their webcams. There is only one major change, and that is the greater choice in paint jobs.
The models won't be available in the US until May 23, 2023, with prices starting at $1,500. The Slim 5 starts at $650 and the Intel-toting 5i starts at $750.
