Sports Personality contenders

Jessica Gadirova

Gymnastics is a sport that 18-year-olds play.

Gadirova won the gold medal on the floor on the last day of the world championships.

The English gymnast won silver in the team event and a historic bronze in the all-around competition at the event.

Gadirova became the fifth British gymnast to win a world title when she won the individual world title.

At the European Championships, Gadirova was a member of the floor gold and team silver team.

She told the radio station that she was shocked to be in the list with such athletes and to be recognized for her hard work and achievements.

Beth Mead

The age is 27

He was the player of the tournament as England won their first ever European Championship.

The Lionesses lifted their first trophy at a major women's tournament after defeating Germany in extra time.

The final was played in front of a record 87,192 crowd and it was a proud moment for me to walk out of the tunnel and play in front of them.

The day was filled with noise and atmosphere that I will never experience again.

She bounced back from the disappointment of not being selected to represent Team Great Britain at the Tokyo Olympics by scoring six goals and contributing five assists during the tournament.

Eve Muirhead

The sport is curling.

The Great Britain women's curling team won the gold medal at the Winter Olympics in Beijing in 1992.

She became Scotland's most decorated curler when she won a gold medal for the fourth time in China.

I still don't know how I got through all that. She said it was very special to stand on the top of the podium.

She was the youngest skip to win an olympic medal.

For Scotland, she won the European Championships three times and later announced her retirement from the sport after winning a sixth world mixed doubles title.

Ronnie O'Sullivan

The sport is snooker.

O' Sullivan equaled Stephen Hendry's record of seven World Championships.

He was 46 years old when he won the world title, making him the oldest world champion of all time.

His 18-13 win over Judd Trump made him one of snooker's all-time greats.

It was a 39th ranking title for the English player who holds almost every major record in the game.

It would look like I had fallen out of love with the game when my frustration would spill over.

It was only because I wasn't playing to the standard I wanted to.

Ben Stokes

31 is the age of cricket.

England won the men's T20 World Cup after defeating Pakistan in the final.

At the end of the game, he was on 52 not out.

England claimed nine out of 10 victories against New Zealand, India, South Africa and Pakistan, despite having only one win in their previous 17 Tests.

He captained England to one of their greatest overseas performances, with a bold declaration helping secure victory with a record run rate in their first Test in Pakistan for 17 years and setting his side on the path to a historic three-peat.

It shows that you don't have to be stuck in a particular way of playing Test cricket just because you've been doing it for a long time. It's interesting to watch.

Jake Wightman

There is a age for athletics.

The 1500m gold medal was won by Wightman at the World Championships.

Steve Cram was the last British man to win the world title.

He produced a brilliant final burst to pass his opponent and win the title.

"It's that moment you cross the line, it's just such euphoria, I just wish you could bottle that up because it soon fades away a little bit," he said

I will never have disbelief and shock like that again.

At the European Championships and the Commonwealth Games, he won two medals.
