Starlink now has over one million subscribers. The CEO's trash fire didn't deter people from signing up to his service.

"Thank you to all customers and members of the Starlink team who contributed to this milestone, Starlink now has more than one million active subscribers," wrote the official account of the space company on Monday.

Starlink's subscriber count may not be good news for its existing customers. Starlink's median download speeds have fallen year-on-year since the second quarter of the year, according to a September report. Ziff Davis is the parent company of the two websites.

Starlink's infrastructure may be to blame for the speed drops ranging from 9 to 54 percent. In May, the service had over 400,000 users, and in August it may have had even more.

It was announced in August that it was partnering with T-Mobile to allow customers' mobile phones to connect directly with Starlink satellites. More people could be added to Starlink's user base.

The company seems to have taken steps to mitigate the use and expectation of Starlink. The internet speed of customers who exceed certain data limits will now be slowed down, according to the new fair use policy introduced by the internet service provider. The users will have to pay more to get their speeds back up.

The load may be helped by the launch of Starlink's second generation satellites by the end of the year. Astronomers are already concerned about the night sky being polluted by Musk's many satellites. A total of 42,000 satellites are planned to be launched by the company. Over 12,000 have been approved.
