Millions of Americans will be affected by a winter storm system starting on Wednesday and lasting through Christmas Eve.

It is very likely that the northern Plains and Upper Midwest will see a white Christmas with all the snow left behind. There is a chance of 1-2 feet of snow in the days leading up to the holiday. It looks like Chicago, Minneapolis, Milwaukee and the Dakotas will have a white Christmas.

It is possible to see an inch of snow or more on the ground in some parts of the United States.

The Great Lakes and the Midwest are likely to be hit with a lot of snow starting on Thursday.

The states with the best chance of seeing a white Christmas are the Dakotas, Minnesota, Wisconsin and most of Michigan.

It is possible to get more than an inch of snow on the ground in northern Nebraska, northern Iowa, and parts of Illinois.

The areas to the west and south could also get lucky.

"It's very likely that we're going to see a white Christmas across the Northwest, especially the interior," she said. There is a chance that we could see a white Christmas as far south as St. Louis.

There is less chance of a white Christmas in the southern United States.

There is a chance of a white Christmas in parts of the Northeast, mid-Atlantic and New England by the end of the week because of the winter storm.

People living in New York State, Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine are very likely to get a white Christmas.

There is a high chance that there will be snow on the ground on Christmas.

There is a chance that there will be a white Christmas this year in the mountains. The chances decrease when you head further south and into the lower altitudes.

Most of this year's white Christmas will be seen in the west due to the elevation.

There is a good chance that you will see snow on Christmas morning in the mountains.

There is a lower chance of a white Christmas in lower elevation areas of Washington State.

There is no chance of snow on the ground on Christmas. There is a different story in Northern California. Those areas have a good chance of getting a white Christmas.

Merwin said they were expecting snow in the upper Midwest. The best place to have snow fall from the sky on Christmas Day will be in Fargo, North Dakota.

As a dangerous blast of air enters the nation, temperatures will plummet.

On Christmas, the temperature is expected to be only 5 degrees. The city of Chicago is expected to have a high temperature of around 9 degrees.

It will probably be more wet than white if you live in the coastal Northwest.

Merwin said that the next system is going to be a bit too mild. It's going to be raining and snowing in Seattle on Christmas.

Boston and Baltimore are expected to have high temperatures of 30 degrees or more.

Atlanta is expected to be just above the freezing mark on Christmas, while Miami will have some sunshine and a high temperature of about 62 degrees. The highs in central and northern Florida are only expected to be in the 50s.

Los Angeles is expected to have a high temperature of around 76 degrees.
