The New York Times reported on Monday that a lawyer for the FTX founder said that Sam Bankman- Fried consented to being extradited to the US.

Bankman-Fried told the court last week that he wanted to keep the option open to fight the decision to extradite him to the US. According to The New York Times, Jerone Roberts, Bankman- Fried's lawyer in the Bahamas, said that he is willing to be extradited.

Insider was told that Bankman-Fried was open to being brought back to the US.

Bankman- Fried has been in the Fox Hill prison since his arrest.

It's not clear when Bankman-Fried will leave for the US or what his next step will be. After news outlets reported that he would submit to the process to return home, a hearing did not resolve questions about his stance.

Criminal charges can be brought in the US by federal prosecutors. The circumstances under which a person can be brought to the US are governed by treaties.

A criminal indictment was filed in New York federal court last week.
