According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, Willie McGinest was arrested on Monday in West Hollywood, California, on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon.
Authorities said the arrest was related to a December incident at a club. The witnesses said McGinest was involved in the assault.
McGinest was taken into custody after arriving at the sheriff's station to give a statement. He was released from jail later in the morning after posting a $30,000 bond.
He is going to be in court.
The NFL Network said in a statement that McGinest won't be on air while it reviews the matter.
McGinest was a member of the team's Hall of Fame. He joined the team as a first-round draft choice out of USC in 1994 and played on three Super Bowl championship teams.
He's third in team history with 78 sacks, and he has 16 career playoff sacks.
He played three seasons in the National Football League for the ClevelandBrowns.
