In the New York Times and the New Yorker, there were allegations of sexual misdeeds against Weinstein, who was once one of the most powerful men in Hollywood. More than 100 people have come forward with accusations against Weinstein. The L.A. trial focused on allegations from four women. An Italian actress said that Weinstein raped her in her hotel room. Lauren Young was a witness in Weinstein's trial. She accused Weinstein of trapping her in a bathroom and sexually abusing her the day before the first Jane Doe came forward. She said she was hired by Weinstein to give him a massage in 2010 and that he groped her and masturbated in front of her. Siebel Newsom is the wife of the governor of the state. There is no evidence that the women were forced to stay in his presence. The Associated Press reported that Weinstein and Siebel Newsom had sex. The former actress said that Weinstein raped her in a hotel when she met him. Four other women testified about their experience with Weinstein. Weinstein didn't testify during the trial.
Key pieces of evidence were brought up about Weinstein's genitalia. If she had not been hurt by him, the first Jane Doe could not have known about the appearance of his corpse.
In New York, Weinstein was found guilty of rape in the third degree, but was acquitted of predatory sexual assault and rape in the first degree. There were two accusers. He was sentenced to 23 years in prison and was sent to Los Angeles to stand trial.
In August, Weinstein was given the chance to appeal. Next year, there will be oral arguments.
Some potential jurors are not aware of the #MeToo movement.
