James Gunn

As the dust settles from last week's DC Studios shakeups, between Henry Cavill being done as Superman and Wonder Woman 3 not moving ahead, new co-chair and co- CEO James Gunn once again took to social media to address the internet's rumor mill.

One of the things Peter and I were aware of when we took the job as heads of DC Studios was a certain group of people online. The choices for the DCU are based on what we think is best for the story and the DC characters who have been around for over 80 years. Maybe these choices are great, maybe not, but they are always with the story in mind. We have been through a lot worse than harassment or called names. Our actions will never be affected by disrespectful outcry.

When it comes to the comic book universes that are currently being re-tooled, the new era at DC wants to be unbothered and unafraid of reactions. We were aware that there would be a period of turbulence when we took this job, and that we would have to make difficult and not-so-obvious choices. In comparison to our jobs as artists and custodians, this doesn't mean much.

Blue Beetle will still be released, even though he had previous involvement in properties like TheSuicide Squad and Peacemaker. He said that he keeps seeing posts with this theory. Everyone but The Suicide Squad is not being recast. We are still holding out for a story with Poison Ivy. The new year will see who is safe or not.

There will be more DC Studios updates as they become available.
