The injury to Hurts' shoulder could jeopardize his status for the Eagles' game against the Cowboys in Week 16.

The team doesn't expect this to be a long-term issue for its starting quarterback, though Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer said he could be out for two games.

Jimmy Kempski initially reported that Hurts had X-rays after the win over the Bears.

Hurts was given the keys to the offense by the Eagles. Hurts guided Philadelphia into the playoffs, while Wentz's Week 18 performance cost the Colts a playoff spot.

The second-round pick looked like he could be a long-term solution at quarterback as Philadelphia moved on from Wentz.

Hurts' performance in the Wild Card Round showed he still has some work to do in order to get to the next level.

Through 14 games, he has passed for 3,472 yards and rushed for 762 yards.

Minshew was brought in by the Eagles to be the backup to Hurts, and he was called into duty twice a season.

It's clear that Minshew has a clear ceiling, but the fourth-year signal-caller if needed is a solid stopgap who has performed well enough.
