Phil Lord told Entertainment Weekly that he liked the best villains when they reflected the journeys of the hero. He would like to be seen as legit. He has a silly costume and is not seen as the top tier of Spider-Man foes, but he wants to be taken seriously.
The Spot was first introduced in the comics at the end of 1984 as a result of a lab accident that allowed him to transfer himself and parts of himself. In Across the Spider-Verse Spot, he's going to get a bit of a modification to his powers, which will make him a threat to everyone in the multiverse.
The Spot's quest for recognition will act as a foil to Miles' own struggle to define himself as he gets older. Chris Miller said thatMiles is trying to figure out how to leave the nest. He feels very much at home with his family. As a teenager, you want to be your own person, but also not lose where you come from.
