The AP Top 25 men's college basketball polls were released on Monday.
The gap is being closed by another one.
A national media panel gave 40 of the 60 first-place votes to the Boilermakers after they knocked off Davidson. After that. The University of Connecticut jumped into second place after Virginia lost to Houston.
Since March 2, 2009, when they were the top ranked team in the country, the Huskies have been in the AP poll.

A road win over the Virginia and an earlier win over the North Carolina A&T allowed them to climb two spots to third. The Jayhawks moved up four spots after their big win. The top five were rounded out by Arizona after they knocked off the No. 1 team in the country. The state of Tennessee has six.

Texas played its first game without suspended coach Chris Beard and still remained in the top seven. The Volunteers fell to eighth to start a run of SEC teams with Alabama falling to ninth and Arkansas holding on to 10th.
The UCLA Bruins climbed four spots to the 12th spot after an impressive week that included a win over Alabama. The Bruins won a game against a ranked team. 19 Maryland before the win. 13 Kentucky are at Madison Square Garden
UCLA has followed back-to-back losses with a seven-game winning streak. We know what we're capable of if we defend and play with strength.
13 ahead of Duke, the only Top 25 team that didn't play last week, and Mississippi State, one of five remaining unranked teams in men's basketball.
Illinois started a run for the Big Ten at number 16. Kentucky lost its third game in a row and fell six spots to 19th.
The other teams in the poll were Virginia Tech, Miami, Michigan, and Arizona State.
Falling and rising.
Wisconsin climbed five spots after its win over Lehigh. The victories over Maryland and in overtime at Iowa the previous week opened the Big Ten season.
Kentucky fell the most after it lost to the Bruins. The Cats have lost to two other teams this season, Michigan State and Gonzaga, and they are just 1-2 at home.

The Golden Eagles moved into the top 25 for the first time this season after opening Big East play with a win over Creighton, while Arizona State moved into the final spot after wins over San Diego and San Francisco.
The Maryland team lost to UCLA. Ohio State lost in overtime to North Carolina.

The SEC has six teams in this week's poll, which is more than any other league. There are four conferences in the Big Ten, American Athletic and Big 12.
