If users have their say, Musk could be about to take his most dramatic turn yet.

Users voted overwhelmingly in favor of Musk leaving the company in a poll put up by him on Sunday. Over 12 hours, 17.4 million people responded, and 57.5% of them voted "Yes", while 42% voted "No", a difference of 15%. Musk said he would follow the results of the poll.

There are a lot of reasons why this shouldn't be taken too strictly. The very distinct take away. In the last 12 hours at least, the majority of those online do not really want more of the Antics. It's important that people are given a voice and that they speak out.

For the main reason why you shouldn't be upset when there isn't anything happening, is that Elon will do what he wants.

He is not very good for his word. Ask the shareholders of the company how his promises have turned out. We can't verify the poll results. It is possible for Musk to redo the poll until he gets what he wants. It seems that Musk is unpredictable.

We don't know what his actual motive was in putting up the poll.

He might actually be giving himself an exit option. Potential investors might be tricked into investing in hypothetical alternatives. A scrappily generating traffic? It is possible that the last one is the result of how much has been dropped on all the set pieces it has been building up over the years.

He might ask that question next.

I think I can say that Musk has been in the Middle East to watch the World Cup, but there's a lot of wealthy people there looking to invest in the West. His post from the game was one of the most watched on the social networking site.

His takeover of the sports commentary beat has been great, but at some point someone needs to clean up the mess in the stadium.
