Football rivalries in Latin America are fierce and Argentina's team is not normally one that the rest of the continent comes together to support.

When Argentina lost in their opening match to Saudi Arabia, there were many jokes about the country being arrogant.

It was felt that the footballing giant had been taken down a notch, and that it was a good thing.

As other South American teams dropped out of the competition, more and more Latin American fans came together to support Messi and his team.

Football fans in countries that are currently in crisis, such as Venezuela and Peru, welcomed the chance to put their worries aside and celebrate. They had a brief moment of joy at a Latin American victory without the political divisions which still haunt them.

You can't help but feel bad for Kylian. The Frenchman won the Golden Boot after scoring three goals in the World Cup final, but he still gets trolled.

The Argentine goalkeeper asked his team-mates to observe a minute's silence for the French forward.

The Paris St-Germain star put the ball past him four times in the match, including a penalty in the shoot out.

The keeper from Villa made a great save from Muani in the extra time to keep Argentina in the game.

France football expert Adam White believes ‘this French team have done a brilliant job’ at this year’s World Cup.

Speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live, White says: “Given the way the French came into this tournament with loads of injuries and fractured squad and a difficult build up in general, they’ve done a brilliant job to get this far”.

“I spent a lot of the game talking about how France had a lot of weapons that could hurt Argentina and it turned out that none of them turned up apart from Kylian Mbappe…he dragged them back into the game”.

White believes that the French camp must have been affected by the virus.

“This team is pragmatic and they dig in and they famously win games the hard way and for them to not show up for a final, to be sluggish and lack lustre and to look tired…it must have had an effect," he said.

Fqiren: Can't help to think that Giroud and Dembele would have taken and converted France's 2nd and 3rd penalties yesterday if they were not subbed out early. Also, Mbappe is just 4 goals from equalling Klose's record at the next WC. And he's only 27 by then! What a star!

We've been discussing the debate about the greatest player of all time.

Adam White has opinions on football. He thinks KylianMbappe is the best.

The 23 year-old finished his second World Cup campaign as the tournament’s top scorer and became the first man to score three goals in a World Cup since Geoff Hurst in 1966.

“He’s already got those 12 goals, he’s already won the World Cup, he’s won everything in France...that’s an incredible thing to say for a 23 year-old,” White told BBC Radio 5 Live.

"He’s incredibly important to France, they are going to build their team around him.

“They produce so much talent that he is going to have the chance to go deep in world cups for the next 10 years."

Eddie Howe has spoken about the availability of his World Cup players ahead of Tuesday's game at home to Bournemouth.

England duo Nick Pope and Kieran Trippier both played in Saturday's 2-1 friendly win over Rayo Vallecano, but they were not the only ones who didn't play in the game.

Howe was asked if they could feature against Bournemouth: "We'll wait and see. I spoke with all the international lads when they came back, obviously Kieran and Nick were very keen to play in the game.

"Those conversations are important because those boys have had not just the physical load from being at the World Cup, but the mental side of it can't be under-estimated, so I'll continue those conversations with the other lads and we'll see where we are."
